“The sun will come out tomorrow, bet your bottom that tomorrow there’ll be sun.” This phrase comes from a song in the musical Annie. The musical is about an orphan who watches other children get picked up and adopted but for some reason she never gets selected. Finally one day she gets chosen but not as a permanent adoption. But she melts the heart of the man who is temporarily adopting her and he changes it to a permanent adoption.
There’s always next next year or next time I’ll do better. These statements are made in the same mindset as the song. The next opportunity will be a better outcome for us.
This mindset is nothing more than hope. Our human state must have hope or we will become over burdened with what happens around us and the anguish and uncertainty of our tomorrows. Hope allows us to dream big and see a vision of our future. It creates in us a desire to aspire to greatness.
Hope also brings to the believer thoughts about our future outcome. That in the end, good will triumph over evil and we will see God. This hope in us can bolster our faith, if we have confidence in God’s word…
“And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.” Romans 8:23 NLT
Our spiritual adoption was not a temporary decision on God’s part but a blessed gift to all who believe.
Tomorrow…don’t let the current struggles and issues of today make your tomorrow. Break out of those chains and set your mind on things that God has promised and planned for you.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
If God has said He has plans for us and they are for good, let us then concentrate our minds on those possibilities and not the storm we may be in. He is after all, the all knowing and all powerful creator of all things. Why should we be troubled?
God give us today enough mental fortitude to place our trust in you. May we teach our minds to dream the dreams that your plan lays before each of us. Speak to us in our dreams and thoughts oh Lord that we may see past our current state and instead see your will and plan revealed. We turn our minds and hearts over to you wholly and freely oh God because you know what is best for us and work all things for our good. To you be blessing, honor, glory, and power forevermore. Amen.
