Most persons who have or will live on this earth can look at our planet and the sun, moon, and stars and think of those as perpetual. The majority of what we see was there when we were born and even if we live to be very old they will remain when we are gone. So to our life span which is not even a drop in the bucket in God’s time table we can only add to or take away from what is on a perpetual world.
However, for some generation in the future this perpetuity of things will come to an end.
“Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.” Matthew 24:35 NLT
But those who believe in God and have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior do not need to worry, nor do we who are dead and buried (if we believe on Jesus as Savior).
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 NLT
Isn’t that awesome! This perpetual world and all of its chaos is not really perpetual. God has hold of all eternity and He is the only perpetual being that we should be concerned about. Our spirits are also perpetual and we will either be with the Lord forever or spend eternity in hell. We have a choice on our perpetuity, paradise or a place where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth in utter darkness. I have decided to follow Jesus and my blessed Hope is the return mentioned in 1 Thessalonians. Are you ready for that day?
Great and majestic God, I give you honor and praise. Blessed be your name, you alone are worthy of my praise and adoration. I ask today Lord that you might bless us with your favor. Feed our spirits with your goodness. I thank you oh Lord for the salvation and hope that you have given to every believer. May we lift you up Jesus so that you may draw others to you. Thank you Lord for all that you do. In Jesus name, amen.
