Confidence

The following song was on an album that my parents would play from time to time when I was a child. It is called, “I’ve Got Confidence” and it is by Andrea Crouch.

“When trouble is in my way
I can’t tell my night from day
When I’m tossed from side to side
Like a ship on a raging tide
I don’t worry I don’t fret
My God has never failed me yet
Troubles come from time to time
But that’s all right,
I’m not the worrying kind because

I’ve got confidence
God is gonna see me through
No matter what the case may be
I know He’s gonna fix it for me

I’ve got confidence
God is gonna see me through
No matter what the case may be
I know He’s gonna fix it for me

Job was sick so long
Till the flesh fell from his bones
His wife, cattle and children,
Everything that he had was gone
But Job in his despair
He knew that God still cared
Sleepless days and sleepless nights
But Job said that’s all right because

I’ve got confidence
God is gonna see me through
No matter what the case may be
I know He’s gonna fix it for me

I’ve got confidence
God is gonna see me through
No matter what the case may be
I know He’s gonna fix it for me

Some folks wonder how I smile
Even when I’m goin’ through trials
They say how can you have song
When everything is goin’ wrong
But I don’t worry I don’t fret
My God has never failed me yet
Trouble’s coming from time to time
But that’s all right,
I’m not the worrying kind because

I’ve got confidence
God is gonna see me through
No matter what the case may be
I know He’s gonna fix it for me

Repeat chorus twice

Fix it for me, fix it for me
He’ll fix it for me”

The word of God directs us many times to place our trust in God. To trust in something or someone is to have confidence in them. Here are a few scriptures that come to mind about the target of our confidence.

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.” John‬ ‭14:16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.” Proverbs‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭NLT

“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” Jeremiah‬ ‭17:7-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I could go on and on but you get the idea. God is always there and lending us a hand if we are walking with Him. I took a tumble last night and praise God I am ok. I hit our concrete bird bath with my back instead of with the back of my neck and/or head. I shiver to think of what may have happened if the impact had been about a foot higher. Praise God that even when we stumble His protection can keep us from greater harm. I did get some scrapes and bruises but He protected me from me.

Most loving and awesome Father. Great is your faithfulness to us even when we do not see it. You are worthy of all our gratitude and praise. Bless your name, amen!

Be blessed.
